The event's plan level matters
Sending SMS (texts) is supported & included with all Membership plans. However, which countries you can send to depends on whether you are using a Basic, Pro/Pro+, or a free event. To determine what your event is, open the event page on the web Dashboard and you will see "Free event", "Basic event", "Pro event" or "Pro+ event".
Free events are limited to USA + Canada
If you are using a Free event then you are limited to United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and Canada.
Basic events are limited to USA + Canada + Mexico + Malaysia + Indonesia
If you are using a Basic event then messages sent to USA + Canada will be sent over SMS.
Messages sent to Mexico, Malaysia, and Indonesia will be sent over WhatsApp only.
Pro/Pro+ events can send to most countries
If you are using a Pro/Pro+ event you can send to most countries worldwide.
Messages sent to Mexico, Malaysia, and Indonesia will be sent over WhatsApp only.
These countries are NOT supported
You cannot send messages to these countries.
Please use the QR code feature instead, or, consider connecting your own Twilio account.

Note this is not a complete list, and this list is not updated as fast as market conditions change: if you don't see your country on the list and you are unsure then please contact us before you make any purchase to check if SMS is supported for your country.
What about when I send a test SMS from the Account page?
If you have any non-expired events that are Pro/Pro+ then the test will be sent as if it were part of a Pro/Pro+ event. If you have only free/expired events then the test will be sent as if it were sent from a Free event.
The easiest way to tell if you can send to the country you want is to use the Account page's Sharing Settings: send a test SMS to a phone number in the country you want to check.
You'll be notified if the message cannot be sent e.g. because we do not support the country.
