For Schools
Have the school or district share their Clever district name with you.
Go to https://apps.clever.com/bound/districts/invite-districts and type their district name into the search bar.
Follow invite instructions outlined at https://support.clever.com/hc/s/articles/215120718?language=en_US.
Have the school or district accept the invitation in their email.
Copy the school/district’s OAuth Token from their District Overview page in Clever. This is crucial for establishing a connection between Bound and Clever.
For Schools:
Go to State->Schools
Find the school you want to connect and click the edit icon
Click the Settings option at the top of the page.
Click the ‘Add Setting’ button in the top right corner.
Select ‘Clever-ID’ in the settings dropdown and paste the OAuth Token into the value field. Click ‘Save’.
A ‘Synced Schools’ section should now appear on the same page displaying all of the schools from the school’s Clever District page. Select all schools that should have their students synced to Bound. After selecting the appropriate schools, click ‘Save Schools’.
At this point, the connection should be established between Bound and Clever.
Check the "Allow Automated Syncing" box to enable ongoing nightly syncs between the SIS and Bound, then click "Save." If this is not selected, a school will have to manually sync student records. (Default assumption is that schools will want this box checked).
Initiating Student Information Syncing
If Student Database Has No Records
If a district or school has no student records, you can start the first sync:
If Student Database Already Contains Student Records: Use the Matchmaker Tool
Navigate to the school’s Students page, click the ‘Manage Students’ dropdown and select ‘Export Students For Clever’. This will download a CSV of student data.
Go to https://apps.clever.com/bound/matchmaker, select the appropriate district, and match against students. Upload the CSV from the previous step when prompted. Click "Submit." This will start Clever’s matchmaker tool which checks for any student matches between Clever and Bound.
Once the matchmaker tool has finished running, you will receive an email with the results.
If no matches were detected:
The email will say “Matchmaker request failed.” This is normal and nothing to worry about. No further action is needed for the matching process.
If any matches were detected:
The email will provide a link to download matching results. Click this link.
Open the downloaded file and copy all of the text inside.
Navigate back to the school’s student listing page and inside the ‘Manage Students’ dropdown, select ‘Match Students.’
Paste the copied file text into the text box in the Student Match page. Click ‘Import’. (NOTE: This text MUST be copied from a text editing program. Do not attempt this from Excel, Numbers, etc..)
This will start matching students within Bound. This should take a few minutes.
Go back to the state school’s settings page and check the "Allow Automated Syncing" box to enable ongoing nightly syncs between the SIS and Bound, then click "Save."
At this point, Bound will automatically sync students from the SIS to Bound on a routine nightly basis. You are also able to manually sync students at any time by clicking ‘Sync Students’ in the Manage Students dropdown.
