Organizations can use Video Indexing to tag significant moments in their broadcasts so that they can be easily referenced by viewers. Use this feature to pull out memorable clips, illustrations, or easily consumable content, helping your viewers quickly find exactly what they are looking for.

Using Video Indexing

After the broadcast has ended, click on the Video Index tab below the broadcast.

In the video player, go to the time in the broadcast where you wish to create a video marker. Pause the video on that timestamp.

Title this moment in the Video Index section to create a video marker.

If you need to edit the video markers, simply click on the edit button to the right of the screen and then Save Changes.

Now viewers can click on this video marker in the Video Index to watch that moment. It will jump right to the time in the broadcast for the video marker they select. Viewers can see this on BoxCast.tv or the BoxCast embedded player.

Note: In order for the embedded player to show the Video Index, you must re-embed the player with the Show Video Index option enabled.

Common Questions

Can I add video markers during a live event?
No, due to the nature of live video. Placing markers on a live video stream would lead to inaccurate results. For this reason, Video Indexing is only available for recorded broadcasts.

How many video markers can I add to the Video Index?
As many as you want. There is no limit to the number of video markers

Can I put multiple video markers at the same time?
Yes. Both items in the Video Index will then link back to the same time in the broadcast. However, we do not recommend this as it may get confusing to viewers.

Can I change the position of the Video Index?
You can position the video index below the embedded player (default) or to the right of the embedded player (Select Two Column Layout)

Will it automatically show up in my embed when I turn on the feature?
No. You will have to re-embedded your player with the Show Video Index option enabled.

Can people see my video markers or video index on Social Media or on Apple TV or Roku Apps?
No. The video index is only available on the BoxCast embedded player or BoxCast.tv link.
