Before we get to the forwarding, we'll walk you through Enabling External Forwarding in Outlook 365!

Enabling External Forwarding in Outlook 365

By default, Outlook 365 has external forwarding turned off.

To enable it, follow the steps below:

These steps are for Outlook 365

Note: If you do not see these options or any policies on that page, the Microsoft 365 user you have used to log in does not have sufficient permissions to make these changes. Make sure you are logging in with an administrator account.

  1. Log in to Microsoft 365 Defender:

    • Ensure you are logged in as a Microsoft 365 administrator.

    • Navigate to Email & collaboration > Policies & rules > Threat policies > Anti-spam policies.

    • Alternatively, you can directly access the Anti-spam settings page using this link: Anti-spam settings.

  2. Access the Anti-spam Outbound Policy:

    • Click on the last option labelled “Anti-spam outbound Policy”.

  3. Edit Protection Settings:

    • Scroll down and click on “Edit protection settings”.

  4. Enable Forwarding:

    • Under forwarding rules, change the option from Automatic - System-controlled to On - Forwarding is enabled.

    • Click Save to apply the changes.

  5. Complete the Process:

    • External forwarding for Outlook 365 is now enabled, and you can set up the forwarding as needed.

Setup your Outlook Forwarding:

If you are using Outlook Web.

Click on the Settings icon on the top right

Next click on "Rules", then click on + Add a new rule

Name your rule "Webform Lead Forwarding to Boxly"

This means that when an email "Comes from" a certain email address, then forward it.

In this case, you are going to add the email address that your webform leads are sent to you from your website or marketing agency.

For example, many WordPress forms send the webform leads from a standard email address, like wordpress@yourwebsite.com

Finally, select "Forward to" and paste in your webform forwarding address.

And that's it!

Block emails from specific email addresses

You may want to not receive emails from specific email addresses or only from specific email addresses. Below you can set that up.

Select the email forwarding address you want to apply email blocking to:

✅ Click the " Email blocking" button

✅ Then select "Block certain email addresses" if you want to block a specific email address or

select "Only allow specific email addresses" and block all others.

Remember: You can add multiple email addresses of either option.

✅ Click "Save"

✨ You can delete an email forwarding address if you need to,

click the Bin icon of the forwarded email address you want to delete.
