The purpose of loading Friction Types is to allow Individual Contributors to identify and quantify the obstacles they encounter when completing or attempting to complete Production Tasks. This will lead to more actionable data for frontline managers and continuous improvement team members to analyze and target for improvement.

To create and edit a 'Friction Types' list in Bramble, you can follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Bramble with an account that has Owner Access.

  2. Go to the 'Check-Ins' page (listed under 'Settings' in the Side-bar menu), select 'Friction Types' from the menu.

  3. Click on the 'Create Type' button to add a new Friction Type.

  4. Enter the name, description and category of the Friction Type and click 'Add Type'.

  5. Click on the 'Edit' button next to the Friction Type you want to change and make the necessary changes.

Before loading Friction Types into Bramble, it is recommended to obtain sign-off/feedback from in-scope Managers to ensure that the Friction Types reflect the types of Friction encountered in your organization.

To keep the Friction Type list manageable, Bramble recommends keeping the list to less than 25 items.

It is recommended to load Friction Types into Bramble no later than 2 weeks after commencing an implementation.
