With the release of Breakthrough 6.x, we’ve made major upgrades to how routines work in your app. Previously, routines consisted of a simple sequence of exercises, but now you have greater flexibility with exercise grouping, rest periods, and enhanced user experience features.
What’s New in Routines?
🔹 Exercise Grouping & Repeats
You can now group exercises together and set them to repeat a specific number of times.
Example: A warm-up section that only runs once or a super set that repeats 3 times before moving on to the next set of exercises.
🔹 Rest Integration
Rest can now be added at any time in a routine.
Users will see rest periods integrated seamlessly into their workout.
🔹 Adjustable Routine Timing
Users can temporarily update the exercise time during their routine (this change will not be saved).
This allows for on-the-fly modifications without affecting the structured routine setup.
🔹 Enhanced Exercise Display
Exercise images are now displayed directly in the routine.
Each exercise clearly shows either the number of reps or the duration the user needs to complete.
Types of Rest in Routines
Routines now support three types of rest periods to give users more control over pacing:
1️⃣ Routine Rest – A general rest period that applies between each exercise in the routine. 2️⃣ Exercise-Based Rest – A custom rest period after each exercise (can be different for each exercise). 3️⃣ Manual Rest in Exercise Groups – Rest periods can be manually added within any exercise group.
How to Set Up Routines in the Portal
To configure and manage your new routines, follow these steps:
TIP: If you don't want to have groups you can leave the group name blank!
🛠 Adding Exercise Groups
Navigate to the Routines section in the portal.
Click “Add Group” and assign exercises to the group.
Set the number of times the group should repeat.
🛠 Adding Rest Periods
Click on an exercise or group where you want to add rest.
Select Routine Rest, Exercise-Based Rest, or Manual Rest.
Adjust the duration of the rest period as needed.
🛠 User View of Routines in the App
Users will see their routine structure, including groups, rest periods, and clear exercise instructions.
Each exercise displays its corresponding image, reps, or time requirement.
Users can temporarily adjust the time for their exercises as they progress.
