Your Breakthrough app can be set up with any Email Service Provider. This guide will go through how to set it up. At the bottom see email samples for inspiration.
Instructions
NOTE: Once you finish steps 1-3 please email partner@breakthroughapps.io to setup your email automation. Reference this article and say you have completed steps 1-3.
Choose an ESP (i.e. Mailchimp, ConvertKit)
In your ESP add user/subscriber fields for each question in your app onboarding (Google how to do this. The Firstname, Lastname is a user field which is already created)
In the ESP add the below "tags"
app-registered
app-monthly
app-yearly
app-canceled
app-trial
app-billing-issue
app-lifetime (only if you have a lifetime tier)
app-quarter (only if you have quarter tier)
app-6months (only if you have 6 month tier)
Create the following emails to be automatically triggered
When user gets app-registered tag have a "Welcome Email". You can choose to have a sequence of emails
When user gets a app-billing-issue tag send an email to prompt the user to fix their billing issue.
When user gets app-cancelled tag - send an automatic email trying to understand why they cancelled. Have a survey that can gather information about it.
Other ongoing emails you should be sending
Any discounts and promotions that are run
Warm-up sequence - Get new user warmed up
Giveaway - Run a giveaway to get reviews etc
New Content Announcements - New content!
New App update - Promote new app features
Subscription Upgrade & alerting - Prompt people to upgrade subscription
Recommended content campaign - Recommend content based on their choice

Billing Issue Email
You can copy-paste this and refine it a bit for your billing issue detection email.
We have detected a potential billing error on your account. This could have happened due to a credit card error with the App Store or Play Store. To fix this issue, please follow the instructions below to verify the payment method is valid.
On iOS:
1. Go to https://apps.apple.com/account/billing on your iOS device
2. Login as prompted
3. Tap Manage Payments (if not directly there)
4. Tap each card and verify there are no error messages. Update the Card Number, Expiry Date, CVV, and Billing details as needed
5. Tap Done in the top right.
On Android:
1. On your computer, sign in to https://pay.google.com with your Google Account.
2. Find the payment method you are trying to use for the purchase.
3. Check the expiration date of the payment methods listed.
4. Remove or update any expired payment methods.
