3 keys to a successful challenge? πππ It's no surprise, single handedly this is the feature that gets the most engagement in a wellness app and consistently helps the app to get new users. These are the 3 keys to running a successful challenge. |
Below are the details on each key! If you need help understanding what a challenge is and need help picking one here is a helpful page. |
#1 Incentivize people with prizes
The challenge is something you are getting people do to change their behavior for better health. Give people a reason to participate in the challenge. Below are example prizes:
Have all or most of these prizes. Then pick out of a hat who gets the prize, from the people that did the challenge. Of course for the prize you want to make a criteria. See more on that here.

#2 Make sure EVERYONE knows about it
You have to promote the F out of this challenge. People need to hear something 25 times before they decide to change their behavior. Below are some challenge promotion tips and a sample calendar:
1. Announce the challenge via social media, email, push notification based on the below schedule 3. Include info in the challenge like "Who is this challenge for", "Why do this challenge", "What you can expect from this challenge", "How to start it" (Include screenshot for this last one of the challenges category).
Sample schedule for a September challenge 1. By Aug 19th - Announce the challenge 2. Aug 24, 25 - Remind that challenge is 1 week away 3. Aug 31 - Reminder that challenge is starting tomorrow 4. Sept 1 - Welcome to the challenge, it is live! 5. At the end of each week in September - "How are you doing with the challenge? It is not too late to get started" 6. End of September - "Announce the winner"
Common question: You may ask, who should I promote this to? My app users or my entire reach?
Answer: EVERYONE! Running a challenge is a great way to invite people into your app and show them the value of it.

#3 Have the right amount of content
Very simple recommendation of how much content you should have for a challenge:
NOTE: If you don't have 30 classes or routines that you can use then doing a 14 day or 21 day is still better than nothing! |
