You can set up an automated welcome series in CleverTap using Journeys. This allows you to send a short sequence of emails to new users, helping them get started and stay engaged.
Step 1: Define the Series
Plan your sequence before creating the Journey. A simple three-email flow works best:
Email 1 (Day 0): Welcome + Getting Started
Email 2 (Day 2): Tips or Feature Highlights
Email 3 (Day 7): Encourage Next Steps or Upgrade
Decide which event will trigger the Journey, such as Sign Up.
Step 2: Create a New Journey
Go to your CleverTap dashboard.
Select Journeys from the left menu.
Click + New Journey and give it a name like Welcome Series - Email.
Select Past Behavior or Live journey (According to your needs) in your setup node.
Step 3: Set the Entry Trigger
Add an Entry Trigger node.
Choose Event Triggered as the trigger type.
Select your signup event (for example, Sign Up).
Add a filter if needed (for example, users who have an email address).
Step 4: Add the First Email (Welcome)
Add an Email node.
Select your welcome email template.
Set the timing to send immediately after the trigger.
Personalize the content using placeholders such as {{First Name}}.
Step 5: Add a Delay
Add a Wait node after the first email.
Set it to wait 2 days before the next message.
Step 6: Add the Second Email (Tips or Education)
Add another Email node.
Choose your Day 2 email template with helpful tips or app highlights.
Use personalization where possible.
Step 7: Add Another Delay
Add another Wait node.
Set it to wait 5 days before the final message.
Step 8: Add the Final Email (Reminder or Offer)
Add a final Email node.
Select your Day 7 template.
Use this message to remind users of the app’s value or encourage upgrades.
Step 9: Add a Goal to End the Journey Automatically
In the top-right corner of the Journey builder, click Set Goal.
Choose the event that represents successful activation (for example, Content Ended or Trial Started).
When a user completes this goal, they will automatically exit the Journey and stop receiving further emails.
Step 10: Review and Test
Review all nodes, delays, and the goal configuration.
Test the Journey using a test user email.
Confirm that all emails send correctly, links work, and personalization appears as expected.
Step 11: Activate the Journey
Once you’ve verified everything, Publish journey. CleverTap will now automatically send the welcome emails to new users when they sign up.

Include one clear call to action in each email.
Review Journey analytics regularly to optimize timing and content.
Save the journey draft before stopping your work.
