App Gifting allows your audience to purchase a subscription to your app as a gift, directly through your Web Paywall. This feature is designed to help you generate additional revenue while introducing new users to your content.
Important Compliance Note
As with your Web Paywall, do not promote App Gifting inside your app. Promoting web-based purchases within the app can put your app at risk of removal from the App Store or Google Play.
This means:
Do not post about gifting in your app’s Community
Do not mention gifting in push notifications
Do not link to the gifting page anywhere inside the app
Instead, you can leave teasers. For example, send out a push notification saying something like "Check our pinned post on Instagram for something special! @breakthrough.apps 🎁"
You can safely market App Gifting through:
Email campaigns
Your website or landing pages
Social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and similar external channels

How App Gifting Works
Once App Gifting is enabled, users can purchase a gifted subscription through your Web Paywall.
From the Web Paywall:
Select the profile icon in the upper-right corner and choose Gift
Or visit the gifting page directly by adding
/giftto the end of your Web Paywall URL
Example:https://yourappname.web.app/gift
After purchase:
The buyer receives a digital gift certificate, which can be printed or emailed to the recipient
The recipient receives a unique code
The code is entered in the app to unlock access for the purchased subscription duration
Here's an example of the apps gift certificate that will be sent to users. These are automatically generated with your branding (not configurable at this time)
Configuring Gift Products
To set up or manage your gifting offerings:
Open the Partner Portal
Navigate to Sales & Promotions → Web Paywall Pricing → Gift Products
Key notes:
Gift products can differ from your standard Web Paywall subscriptions
You may create dedicated gift-only products
If no gift products are configured, your standard Web Paywall offerings will be used by default
Customizing Gift Page Wording and Design
You can customize the copy and appearance of your gifting page directly in the Portal.
Go to:
Portal → Web Paywall → Overview
From there, adjust:
Gift Paywall Config for wording and layout
Gift Theme for colors and visual styling
Be sure to click the green checkmark to save your changes.
