In this article, we will share how the athlete will view the velocity-based parameters in their programming. We show %velocity for distance and %velocity for time.

%Velocity for Distance

Parameter Order:

  1. Distance

  2. Velocity Target

  3. Time Target

How It Works:
When %Velocity for Distance is prescribed, the coach sets the distance target, and the velocity and time targets are automatically calculated based on the prescribed %velocity and the athlete's test results.

Test Data:
If no test data is available, the velocity target will be displayed as a percentage of maximum effort.

Adjusting the Time Target:
Athletes can view the target time needed to complete a specified distance (e.g., 2 miles in this example). By selecting the time field, athletes can adjust the time to match their actual performance or view more details about the prescribed set.

Ranges:
If you prescribe a velocity range, athletes will see both the target velocity and the full range displayed below the set. This includes the calculated %velocity and the corresponding time, based on the prescribed range.

  • Example:
If you prescribe 85% velocity with a ±5% range, the display will show 85% velocity along with the ±5% range (equivalent to a 80-90% velocity range) below.

%Velocity for Time

Parameter Order:

  1. Time

  2. Velocity Target

  3. Distance Target

How It Works:
When %Velocity for Time is prescribed, the coach sets the time target, and the velocity and distance targets are calculated based on the prescribed %velocity and the athlete's test results.

Test Data:
If no test data is available, the velocity target will be displayed as a percentage of maximum effort.

Adjusting the Distance Target:
Athletes can adjust the distance target to match their actual distance. The velocity target will automatically update based on this adjustment.

Ranges:
If you prescribe a velocity range, athletes will see both the target velocity and the full range displayed below the set. This includes the calculated %velocity and the corresponding distance, based on the prescribed range.

  • Example:
If you prescribe 85% velocity with a ±5% range, the display will show 85% velocity along with the ±5% range (equivalent to a 80-90% velocity range) below.
