Why Would a Coach Assign an Off-Season Program?
Off-season training programs are a crucial part of an athlete’s development, allowing them to maintain strength, prevent injuries, and prepare for the demands of the upcoming season. For coaches, assigning an off-season program ensures that athletes follow a structured plan tailored to their sport-specific needs.
One key reason coaches assign off-season programs is to limit the tracking of attendance in compliance with NCAA off-season regulations. The NCAA has strict guidelines regarding required athletic activities outside the competitive season, including restrictions on mandatory participation and coaching involvement. To remain compliant, off-season programs are often designed as voluntary, meaning attendance cannot be formally tracked or enforced. While coaches may provide training resources, athletes must have the freedom to choose their level of engagement without pressure or consequences.
How to assign an off-season program
The steps to assign an off-season program will be exactly the same as assigning any program. The only difference will be from the Review page before clicking "Assign Training".
At the end of the window, you will select "No, this program is in the off-season".
How will this appear from a coach's perspective?
From the web, coaches can see that the program is assigned and what days the workouts are scheduled on. You won't be able to click on the workout to view any workout data entered by the athlete, see started or completed workouts.
From the tablet app, coaches can only view the days the program is scheduled or preview a workout. They won't be able to start a workout in Weight Room Mode or e
