Completing the Counselor Profile

Before you can begin document sending for your students, you will need to complete the Counselor Profile. If this form is not completed, you will not be able to submit any Common App forms for the students.

If your school is using the Common App integration, students should NOT invite their Counselors through Common App. School counselors do not need to create a Common App Counselor account, so there's no need for school counselors to pair accounts.

The pairing is only for students. By default, students' BridgeU Advisor will be automatically assigned as their Common App Counselor.

How to Complete the Counselor Profile

Step 1: From the Documents page, click on the name of the student you are working with.

Step 2: Navigate to the Common App tab and Click on the Open Counselor Profile button to begin. You will be prompted to fill in the Counselor Profile, which contains counselor-related questions. You only need to complete this form once for the student, and the information provided will automatically be used for all Common App forms and document submissions associated with that specific student.

Step 3: After reviewing and updating the Counselor Profile details, click the pink Confirm button located in the bottom-right corner of the Counselor Profile window to confirm.

Once confirmed, you will be redirected back to the Common App overlay. The Counselor Profile status will update to Confirmed, and the status indicator will turn green, confirming that the profile has been successfully completed and is ready for use in Common App document sending.

If you need to update any answers later, the changes will apply to all Common App forms, so you won’t need to update each form individually.

If you need to update any information in the Counselor Profile, you must make the changes from School Settings. If any details are updated in the school-wide School Details or School Profile sections, you are required to review and reconfirm the Counselor Profile information.
