The first step in getting started with brightwheel is to set up rooms. Teachers, staff, and students can be assigned to specific rooms, allowing them to check-in, add activities, and message parents

The fastest way to create rooms and assign students in bulk to them is through our easy Roster Upload Tool. This allows Admins/Managers to add students and their room assignments, all at once, plus so much more.

Rooms can easily be added, edited, or removed at any time from the app or on the web.  Please refer to the Managing Rooms article for more information.

Setting Up Classrooms

Once rooms have been created, there are more features that can be done:

  1. Room Attendance: Check students in and out in

  2. Room Ratios and Capacity: Set custom maximums for each room's capacity and desired student-to-staff ratio.

  3. Room Check and Ratios: Check ratios per room, at any time, with real-time data to ensure proper staff-to-student ratios.

  4. Room Feed and Approval: Staff Only posts are a great way to ensure admins can approve posts before they are sent to a parent. This feature also allows posts to be edited directly from the Room Feed.

  5. Room Device Mode: Room Device Mode allows staff that are assigned to a specific room to share a single device and still post and send messages as themselves. No more shared logins!

  6. Room Settings: Room-specific settings that allow the ability to sort a room list in the app.

  7. Enrollment Status Filters: By assigning enrollment statuses for each student, students will be filterable by their status in the mobile app and throughout the web. Say goodbye to cluttered lists of students who are no longer attending!
