The Health Screens help programs comply with COVID-19 regulations and ensure a healthy space. Health Screens at check-in can be used with staff and students in conjunction with brightwheel's Quick Scan feature to minimize the touching of communal surfaces. Alternatively, the program can require families to complete Health Screens at home before arrival.

This screening asks the person to confirm all statements by checkboxes. For example, the default questions are:

  • No fever

  • No cough or shortness of breath

  • No contact with COVID-19 in the last 14 days

Enable Health Screen at Check-in

Administrators can enable the Health Screen feature from the Check-in Settings on the brightwheel mobile app or on the web. Once enabled, families and staff will be required to fill out a health questionnaire at check-in.

On the Web

  1. Navigate to My School > Settings

  2. Tab over to School Info

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and toggle the Health Screen option for Students - at check in for students and/or staff

On Mobile

  1. From the Administrator Home screen, tap School Profile

  2. Under School Settings, tap Check-in Settings

Edit or Delete Student Health Screens

If the student contact made a mistake, or missed filling it out, administrators can edit, or delete this activity from the student’s feed on the web, or delete the activity on the app. If correcting a historical Health Screen, administrators must remove the entire attendance record and have the parent log a new one with the adjusted date/time to reflect the historical record.

From the Web

  1. Log into brightwheel on the web

  2. Click My School > Students

  3. Locate the student and tap Feed

  4. Find the desired Health Screen and click Edit

  5. Edit the date/time and notes or Delete the activity

From the App

  1. Log into brightwheel on the app

  2. From the administrator home screen tap Rooms and locate the student

  3. From the student’s feed tap directly on the Health Screen activity

  4. Tap Delete

Delete & Review Staff Health Screens

If the staff member made a mistake, or missed filling out a Health Screen, administrators will need to delete this attendance record and have the staff log a new check-in/out for the current date from their mobile app. Next the administrator will need to edit the date and time of the new record to reflect the deleted historical record.

ℹ️ Please visit our Staff Time Tracking resource for steps on deleting, or reviewing a staff Health Screen logged with an attendance record.

Failed Health Screen Notification

When the student contact, or staff member fails to check all the questions on the health screen questionnaire, they will receive the message, 'Please discuss your health screen with your provider to confirm it's okay to check-in.'

If the contact chooses to continue with the check-in, administrators will receive a 'Health Screen Alert' push notification alerting them that they failed the questionnaire. Tapping on the notification will immediately open that student's feed to display the most recent check-in and which questions were left unchecked.

ℹ️ Failed staff Health Screenings won’t trigger a push notification for administrators.

Please visit our Manage Push Notifications for Staff resource for how to turn on failed health screen alerts.

Review Check-in Health Screens

The results of the health screen at check-in can be viewed directly on the student's feed from both the web and the app.

Administrators can report on the result of the student's Health Screen Questionnaire via the Check-in Report. By checking the Show Health Screen Results box, a new column will be added to show whether a student passed the questionnaire or failed. You can see which question was vailed by clicking View. This is also exportable.
