Alongside traditional documents, you can now directly harness ESG metrics and information from websites.
This feature works with questionnaires, gap analyses, and document chats.
How to get ESG insights from websites
Whether you're aiming to fill out a public questionnaire with data from a company's sustainability webpage, or seeking insights for a gap analysis, the new URL data extraction feature can help you out.
Here's how it works:
Step 1: Begin an assessment
Start by selecting the assessment type you need, such as a questionnaire.
Next, select a web page for your assessment.
Please note: Currently, this feature can only gather insights from individual website pages. It will not crawl the entire website. If you want to check multiple pages of a website, you can simply copy paste all the associated URLs within the "Enter website URL" field.
Step 2: Choose your template or create a new assessment
After selecting the questionnaire template that suits your needs (or creating your own), you'll typically proceed to upload documents (PDFs).
Next to the familiar "Upload documents" button, you will now find a a new option: "Enter website or file URLs."
1. Copy the URL: Navigate to the desired webpage. Copy the link using CTRL+C.
2. Paste the URL: Back in Briink, click on the "+ icon" and paste your copied URL into the designated field.
π‘ Did you know? Briink can recognize any website link hidden in a chunk of text. Simply paste a free form text containing one of more URLs, and Briink will do the rest!
Step 4: Website to PDF conversion and selection
Briink will convert the webpage into a PDF. This process should take from a few seconds to a couple minutes.
If the web page processing was successful, you will see a green "ready" flag appear next to your webpage. The webpage is now ready to be used to autofill a questionnaire, or generate any other insights.
Occasionally, some web pages might prevent Briink from crawling them. If this happens, reach out to our team via Intercom - we are here to help!
Previewing or downloading a webpage as a PDF
If you want to preview or download your webpage PDF, navigate to Library, click on the three dots on the right hand side, and click on either Preview or Download file.
Special note on PDF URLs
π‘ Tip: The URL data extraction feature is a great way to save you time when analyzing publicly available Sustainability reports!
If a sustainability report or any PDF document is hosted on a website, and has a direct URL, you can simply paste the PDF's URL into Briink to avoid the download-upload routine, and saving valuable time.
