Connecting to an Infrastructure Network

Before you can enjoy Brillband’s 900 Mbps, your home needs a live connection via one of our infrastructure partners. Their engineering team handles everything—from digging ducts to installing kit—with minimal fuss and no mess.

What to Expect on Installation Day

  1. A Stitch in Time Saves Nine

    • Installations typically take 1–3 hours, but might run longer if we hit unexpected obstacles (e.g. tricky ducts or solid ground).

    • Our engineers aim for a neat, thorough job—so you’re online and happy before they leave.

  2. Confirming the Best Location

    • The engineer will suggest the ideal spot for your fibre entry and ONT (black box).

    • If you have a preferred location—say, a home office or living room wall—just let them know. You have 10m to play with from the point of entry. If you encounter any issues please get in touch with our support team.

  3. Feeding the Fibre Cable In

    • We’ll use existing underground ducts where possible; if not, we’ll carefully trench under your garden or driveway.

    • A tiny hole (about 5 mm Ø) is drilled through the wall, then sealed and tidied once the cable’s in.

    • Outside, you’ll see a neat fibre entry box (around the size of an iPad mini)—it may look slightly different in flats versus houses.

  4. Fitting the ONT (Optical Network Terminal)

    • Inside, we mount the ONT on your wall.

    • Your Brillband router plugs directly into this black box—it converts the fibre light signal into your blazing-fast Ethernet connection.
