eero Internet Backup: Stay Online, No Matter What

Even the best connections can hiccup—so why let an outage slow you down? eero Internet Backup keeps you seamlessly connected by automatically switching to a nearby mobile hotspot or secondary Wi-Fi network when your main broadband goes offline. And once your service is back, it flips right back—no action needed.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Instant Failover: As soon as your primary internet drops, your eero switches to your backup source in seconds.

  • Hands-Free Recovery: When your main connection returns, eero reverts automatically. No fiddling, no faff.

  • Uninterrupted Work & Play: Keep video calls, streaming and gaming alive, even during maintenance or outages.

How to Enable & Manage

  1. Open the eero App

    • Ensure you’re on the Home tab and have the latest app version:
      SettingsTroubleshootingAbout

  2. Turn On Internet Backup

    1. Tap Internet at the bottom.

    2. Select eero Internet Backup.

    3. Toggle On.

  3. Add Your Backup Network

    1. Tap Add a Network.

    2. Choose your mobile hotspot or secondary Wi-Fi from the list.

    3. Enter its password and save.

Strengthening & Troubleshooting

  • Weak Backup Signal?
Position your phone or hotspot closer to your primary eero node to boost reception.

  • Backup Not Connecting?
    • Confirm your backup network’s SSID and password are correct.
    • Check that your hotspot allows connections from other devices (some phones disable this after time).

  • Still Stuck?
Restart your eero and hotspot: unplug both, wait 30 seconds, then power up in this order—ONT/router first, then hotspot.

With eero Internet Backup in your toolkit, you’ll never miss a beat—whether you’re in the middle of a crucial video call or on the verge of a gaming victory. Enjoy peace of mind and keep living at full speed!
