Even our powerful 900 Mbps package needs a little help to blanket every corner of your home. Wi-Fi signals travel impressively far in open spaces, but walls, floors and furnishings all chip away at strength. Here’s how to extend your coverage—without drifting off topic.
1. Reposition Your Router
Central & Elevated
Place your Eero on a high shelf or chest-height table, in the middle of your home.Keep It Clear
Avoid metal cabinets, thick walls and large appliances nearby.Longer Ethernet? No Problem
If you’re stuck with a single power or wall-box location, run a CAT6 (or above) cable from a more central room—CAT6 handles our full speeds with ease.
2. Consider a Wi-Fi Extender
A lone router can struggle in larger houses. Before splashing out, double-check your router’s position. If you still have patchy spots, add one—or better, multiple—extenders for true mesh coverage.
Recommended Extenders
Extender Model | Coverage | Top Wireless Speed | Highlight Feature |
eero 6 Dual-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6 Extender | Up to 140 m² | 500 Mbps | TrueMesh technology |
Amazon Echo Pop | Up to 93 m² | 100 Mbps | Built-in smart speaker |
Tip: In a substantial home, use more than one extender—position them roughly halfway between your router and the dead-zone.
Standard 3 bed home recommend 1 extender
Standard 4 bed home recomend 2 extenders
3. Remember: Speed Isn’t Distance
Higher speeds don’t magically travel further, but they do give you more stable bandwidth overall.
Extender Trade-Off: Any extender will cap overall Wi-Fi speeds (typically up to 500 Mbps), because it splits and shares bandwidth across rooms and devices.
For True 900 Mbps: Only a wired CAT6 (or above) Ethernet connection guarantees full gigabit performance.
By tweaking placement, adding the right extenders—and knowing when to switch to wired—you’ll enjoy a strong, consistent connection from the attic to the garden shed. If you still spot weak spots, our support team is just a message away!
