Sometimes trips don’t follow a perfect workflow. Maybe you booked last-minute. Maybe the trip is already complete, but a client forgot to fill out their questionnaire. In cases like this, Brindlechute gives you a way to close out the trip without chasing paperwork that’s no longer relevant.
That’s where Mark as Done and Override Status comes in.
How to Override a Document
Open the Trip.
In the Clients section, check for clients showing an Incomplete status.
Click Complete task on the client’s row, or click the Incomplete status. A panel opens showing the client’s Waivers, Questionnaires, and Documents.
Under the item you want to override, check Mark as done and override status.
This marks the document complete and allows you to finalize the trip without further client follow-up.
What Not to Override
Some documents are compliance-related and should never be overridden, including:
Fishing licenses
Government-required permits
Any legal or regulatory documents
These sync with your Compliancy Hub and are critical for:
Year-end reporting
Insurance and liability records
State and federal compliance
Overriding compliance documents can create gaps in your records.
Only override non-compliance items.
When Should You Use This?
Use Mark as Done and Override Status for non-compliance-related documents such as:
Guest questionnaires
Optional waivers
Other documents you’ve determined aren’t needed after the trip is complete
This feature helps you cleanly wrap up trips without unnecessary back-and-forth, while keeping your compliance data accurate.
What about paper waivers clients already signed in the shop?
Waivers in Brindlechute are handled through SmartWaiver, so a paper waiver can’t be uploaded directly. If a client signed a paper waiver in your shop, the signed copy is your record on file—you can satisfy the digital requirement by marking the task as done.
To mark a signed paper waiver as done:
Open the Trip Detail and find the client’s row.
Click Complete task, or click the client’s Incomplete status, to open their panel.
In the Waivers section, check Mark as done and override status.
To have the client complete a digital SmartWaiver in the shop instead:
Open the client’s panel and go to the Waivers section.
Click Start waiver.
Enter the client’s first name, last name, and email, then hand them the device to finish a few quick clicks.
