How To Reassign a Guide from the Trip Detail

Quickly reassign guides from any trip. Brindlechute logs notifications, syncs to the Guide App, and keeps your history up to date.

Sometimes plans change—whether it’s a conflict, cancellation, or last-minute availability shift, you may need to assign a different guide to a trip. Brindlechute makes this easy while keeping your team informed every step of the way.

  1. Open the trip
Navigate to any trip that already has a guide assigned, either from bookings or trip calendar.

  1. Click the guide’s name
This opens the dropdown with your full guide roster.

  2. Remove the current guide

    • Click Clear in the bottom left of the dropdown.

    • The guide will receive an email that they’ve been unassigned.

    • This update will reflect in their Guide App.

    • The action is tracked in the trip’s communication history.

  3. Assign a new guide

    • Select a new guide from the roster.

    • They’ll receive an email notification.

    • The assignment will reflect in their Guide App and the trip’s communication history.

Clearing a Guide vs. Removing the Guide Slot

Clear empties a guide slot — it doesn't remove it. The trip unit stays active and keeps counting toward the trip's guide slots; it just shows as Unassigned until you pick someone else. That's the right tool when the trip still needs the same number of guides and you only want a different person on it.

If the trip needs fewer guides — the group shrank, or the client dropped a boat — clearing the guide won't reduce the slot count. Remove the trip unit instead: open the booking, click Edit (top right), expand Per-unit details, click the X on the unit that's no longer needed, redistribute Persons across the remaining units, and Save.

The notification differs depending on which you do. A guide cleared from a unit that stays on the trip gets an unassignment notification. A guide on a unit that's removed entirely gets a Trip Canceled notification.
