Configure tracked usage permits with nicknames, abbreviations, and daily capacity

For tracked usage permits, set nicknames, abbreviations, and daily capacity so section usage displays clearly in your Trip Calendar.

For permits that include tracked usage, you’ll need to configure nicknames, abbreviations, and daily capacity. The abbreviation is what you’ll see in your Trip Calendar when viewing section usage, so it’s important to set this carefully.

By setting these details, your calendar will display section usage as booked vs. total (e.g., 2/4), making it easy to manage capacity at a glance.

How to Configure Section Details

  1. From your sidebar, go to Permits.

  2. Select the permit you’d like to edit (for example, South Fork of the Snake).

  3. Go to the River Sections tab within that permit.

  4. Click the pencil icon next to any section to edit it.

  5. Add or adjust:

    • Nickname – the full name for the section.

    • Abbreviation – the short label (e.g., SF1, SF2, SF3, SF4) that will appear in the Trip Calendar.

    • Capacity per Day – the total number of launches allowed for that section each day.

Why It Matters

These settings only apply to tracked usage permits. Your abbreviations and daily capacities flow directly into the Trip Calendar, powering the usage counts you’ll see in Daily, Schedule, and Monthly views.
