Setting up full-day vs half-day experiences (time configuration guide)

Learn the best way to structure full-day and half-day experiences in Brindlechute so your guide availability is accurate and your booking options are clear.

Setting up full-day and half-day trips properly keeps your calendar clean and avoids confusion for both clients and guides. The key is choosing the correct Time Configuration for each type of trip and deciding how you want it displayed during booking.

Below are simple best practices to help you structure your experiences the right way.

Full-Day Trips (Best Practice Setup)

Full-day trips should usually block the guide for the entire day.

How to Set It Up

  1. Go to Products → Experiences.

  2. Click the full-day experience you want to edit (or create a new one).

  3. Scroll to Experience Time Configuration.

  4. Select All Day Block.

  5. Save.

Why This Works Best

  • The guide is blocked for the entire day.

  • No risk of accidental double-booking.

  • Cleaner calendar view.

  • Simple and clear for clients.

Use this for traditional 6–10 hour fishing days where the guide won’t realistically take another trip that day.

NOTE: If you allow flexible start times, clients can choose a start time within the range you set. For example, if availability is 8:00 AM–10:00 AM, they can select 8:00, 8:15, 8:30, 8:45, and so on within that window.

Half-Day Trips (Best Practice Setup)

Half-day trips should use Scheduled Times.

This allows you to run:

  • Morning trips

  • Afternoon trips

  • Or multiple shorter time slots

Experience with Multiple Start Times

This is usually the cleanest setup.

How to Set It Up

  1. Go to Products → Experiences.

  2. Open your half-day experience.

  3. Scroll to Experience Time Configuration.

  4. Select Scheduled Times.

  5. Enter the duration (example: 4 hours).

  6. Add multiple start times (example: 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM).

  7. Save.

Now clients can choose either time when booking.

Use Buffer Time for Turnaround

Adding buffer time is smart.

Example:

  • 4-hour trip

  • Add 30 minutes after the trip

This gives guides time for:

  • Cleaning gear

  • Travel

  • Resetting for the next group

It prevents back-to-back stress.

The goal is simple: keep your calendar clean and your booking flow easy for clients. Full-day trips usually work best with All Day Block. Half-day trips work best with Scheduled Times and clear start options. Set it up properly once, and your availability will run smoothly all season. Additionally, always verify guide availability using the Assignment Calendar or the Guide’s Individual Calendar to avoid conflicts and ensure seamless scheduling.
