Areas help keep trip reporting clear and consistent. An Area is the main location where a trip takes place, such as a river, lake, reservoir, or other fishing destination. Inside each Area, there can be multiple specific locations that someone may report going to, such as a ramp, bridge, launch point, access point, or other stop along that Area. Outfitters can also star commonly used Areas to make them easier for guides to find later.
Public and Private Areas
Areas in Brindlechute can be either public or private.
Public Areas are visible to all outfitters using Brindlechute.
Private Areas are only visible to your organization.
If you have questions about whether an Area is public or private, or need a private Area set up, reach out to support.
How to View Areas
Go to Products.
Click Product Settings.
Open the Areas tab.
From here, a list of saved Areas will appear, such as Anderson Ranch, Beaverhead River, or Armstrong Spring Creek.
How to Favorite Commonly Used Areas
Outfitters can star an Area to mark it as a favorite.
This is helpful for Areas that are used often, since starred Areas are easier for guides to find when filling out reports.
Showing or Hiding Areas in the Guide Report
You can control which Areas and locations show up when guides pick where a trip took place. This is useful when an Area has a long list of locations and you only want guides choosing from the ones you actually run.
In the Areas tab, look at the Guide report display column. Each Area — and each location inside it — has an eye icon:
Eye icon — the Area or location shows in the guide report.
Crossed-out eye (Hidden) — the Area or location is hidden from the guide report.
Click the eye icon to toggle between showing and hiding.
You can hide an entire Area, or expand an Area and hide just specific locations within it. When a whole Area is hidden, it disappears from the guide report completely. The Locations column shows how many locations an Area has and how many are hidden — for example, 39 (34 are hidden) or 2 (All are hidden).
How Areas Are Added
Looking for a specific area, or point? Good chance it's already in the system! Search your Areas first — if it's there, you can just star it and you're all set.
Don't see it? No problem — reach out to support and we'll get it added for you. New Areas are set up by the Brindlechute team.
When you reach out, include the following in your request:
Area name — the river, lake, reservoir, or destination.
Public or private — public Areas are visible to all outfitters; private Areas are only visible to your organization.
Locations within the Area — any specific access points, ramps, launches, or stops guides should be able to select, or let us know if there is just one access site.
Permit — whether trips in this Area map onto a permit.
💡 Tip: New Areas are added as part of weekly product updates. Support will follow up to confirm once it's live and your guides can select it on reports.
What Guides See in Reports
When a guide creates a trip report, they may be asked where the trip took place.
They will first choose the main Area, such as Anderson Ranch or Beaverhead River.
Then they will choose the more specific location inside that Area, such as where they launched, started, ended, or accessed the trip.
For example:
Area: Beaverhead River
Location: High Bridge
This keeps reports more accurate and makes it easier to review where trips happened over time.
