Track Online Bookings in Google Analytics

Choose between Integrated and Session mode to send Brindlechute booking events into Google Analytics, and see how each affects attribution.

Brindlechute sends standard GA4 events from your online booking tools so you can see how customers move from browsing to booking. There are two ways to send them, and the one you choose affects how conversions are attributed.

Integrated mode vs. Session mode

Find this setting under Organization settings → Settings → Organization info, in the Integrated analytics section. The toggle label shows which mode you're currently on.

Integrated mode

Session mode

Where events go

The Google Analytics your website already runs

A Google Analytics ID you provide to Brindlechute

Analytics session

Same session as the rest of your site

A separate session

Attribution

Conversions keep the source that brought the visitor in

Booking events aren't tied back to the original source

Setup needed

Your site must already run standard GA4

A dedicated GA4 data stream and Measurement ID

If you run paid traffic, Integrated mode is usually what you want. A visitor who arrives from a Google Ads or Facebook click and then books keeps that source on the conversion. In Session mode, the booking is recorded in its own session, so the connection back to the ad is lost.

Integrated mode

Integrated mode sends booking events into the Google Analytics your website already runs. You don't provide a Measurement ID — the field is hidden in this mode, because the events go to whichever tag your page has configured.

What your site needs

Your website must already be running standard GA4 through Google's gtag script. Brindlechute doesn't check this for you — switching the toggle on is treated as confirmation that Google Analytics is present on the page.

If your site doesn't run a standard gtag, events can go missing without any warning. A site using Google Tag Manager alone, or with no analytics installed, doesn't meet the requirement — and nothing in Brindlechute will flag it. If you turn Integrated mode on and stop seeing booking events in Google Analytics, this is the first thing to check. Session mode works regardless of what your site runs.

Session mode

Session mode sends booking events to a Google Analytics ID you provide. Because Brindlechute booking tools run on a hosted domain, they shouldn't share your main website's data stream — you'll create a separate GA4 web data stream for them.

Create a dedicated data stream

  1. Go to Admin → Data Collection → Data Streams

  2. Click Add stream → Web

  3. For the website URL, enter: home.brindlechute.com

  4. Name the stream: Brindlechute Booking

  5. Click Create stream

  6. Copy the Measurement ID (looks like G-XXXXXXXXXX)

  7. In Brindlechute, go to Organization settings → Settings → Organization info

  8. Switch Integrated analytics off so the mode reads Session mode

  9. Paste the Measurement ID into the Google Analytics ID field

  10. Click Update

Which mode is my organization on?

Open Organization settings → Settings → Organization info and look at the label next to the Integrated analytics toggle. If a Google Analytics ID field is showing, you're on Session mode.

Organizations that already had a Google Analytics ID saved stayed on Session mode, so their reporting is unchanged. Organizations with no Google Analytics ID saved are on Integrated mode.

Events Brindlechute sends

The same three standard GA4 events are sent in both modes, so your booking data works cleanly with Google Analytics reporting tools, including funnels.

Event

When it fires

page_view

A Brindlechute booking page is viewed

add_to_cart

An experience is added to the booking flow

purchase

A customer submits a request to book or completes an instant booking. Includes transaction_id, currency, value, and items.

In Integrated mode, the page_view is recorded against the booking page's own URL, so it doesn't duplicate the pageview your website already fires for the page the booking tools sit on.

Event properties

Each event includes properties that let you identify and segment Brindlechute traffic:

  • page_title — Identifies Brindlechute-powered pages (e.g., filter for pages containing Brindlechute)

  • page_path — Shows where the customer is in the booking experience, such as experience detail pages or group selection screens

Building a booking funnel in GA4

  1. Go to Explore → Funnel exploration

  2. Add steps:

    • page_view

    • add_to_cart

    • purchase

  3. Apply a filter such as Page title contains "Brindlechute" or filter by booking page path

This creates a clean booking funnel showing where customers drop off.

What we don't do

  • We do not access your Google Analytics account

  • We do not see your reports, audience data, or ad data

  • All data flows one-way into your GA property

Troubleshooting

Not seeing events at all, on Integrated mode?

  • Confirm your website runs standard GA4 through gtag. A Tag Manager-only setup doesn't qualify, and events are dropped silently.

  • If you can't confirm this, switch to Session mode and supply a Measurement ID instead.

Not seeing events at all, on Session mode?

  • Confirm the Measurement ID was copied from the correct data stream and starts with G-

  • Check the GA4 Realtime report while completing a test booking

  • Events may take 24–48 hours to appear in standard GA4 reports

Can't distinguish Brindlechute traffic from the rest of your data?

  • Filter by Page title contains "Brindlechute" in your Funnel exploration

  • On Session mode, the dedicated Brindlechute Booking data stream gives a fully isolated view
