How to split and merge documents

Overview

BoldTrail BackOffice lets you split specific page ranges or extract every page into a separate document, and combine multiple documents into one.

Before performing any PDF tasks, please put your documents into the Unsorted folder.

If a document you wish to work on is not located in the Unsorted folder, unassign it from any current task or checklist, and it will appear in the Unsorted folder for further actions like splitting or merging.

Split the document

Go to your transaction's Unsorted folder and select Edit > Split on the right-side panel. In the pop-up window, you can:

  • Set a specific page range within 'From' and 'To' fields

  • Assign split documents to a new or existing task

  • Find newly assigned documents in a Documents folder

If you've already added a document to a specific task, unassign it to be able to split or merge it.

To replace or update an assigned document, unassign the current document from the checklist, locate the updated or corrected one in the Unsorted folder, and assign it to the required checklist.

Merge documents

Go to your transaction's Unsorted folder and select Edit > Merge with... In the pop-up window, select each extra file you need to combine, give it a new name and click Merge. The merged document will appear at the top of your Unsorted folder.

Reassigning Documents

Occasionally, it may be necessary to replace or update a document assigned to a checklist. For instance, replacing an incomplete or incorrect document with a filled-out version. To do this:

  1. Unassign the current document from the checklist.

  2. Locate the updated or corrected document in the Unsorted folder.

  3. Assign the correct document to the required checklist.
