Website monitoring automatically checks web pages for changes on a schedule you define. Instead of manually visiting websites to check for updates, your robot does it for you and alerts you when something changes.

Common monitoring use cases:

  • Track competitor price changes.

  • Monitor product availability.

  • Watch for new job postings

  • Get alerts for new real estate listings.

  • Follow content updates and news.

How to set up web monitoring

You can add a monitor (1) when you are building a robot, or (2) you can add a monitor to any approved robot via the Monitor tab.

Adding a monitor during robot creation

✅ If you don't have a robot trained and approved, this is the best method.

  1. Select Monitor site changes when creating a new robot.

  2. Train your robot to capture the specific data you want to monitor.

  3. Configure your monitoring preferences and click Save when you're done to activate the monitor.

Adding a monitor to an existing robot

✅ You need to have trained and approved a robot in order to add a monitor.

  1. Go to your robot's dashboard and click the Monitor tab.

  2. Select + Create new monitor

  3. Configure your monitoring preferences and click Save when you're done to activate the monitor.

Monitor settings and types

When you're setting up your monitor you'll have a few options (depending on what you're monitoring).

Monitor types explained

Text monitoring

  • Detects any change in captured text, lists, or HTML.

  • Perfect for prices, inventory counts, or content updates.

  • Changes shown with color coding.

Screenshot monitoring

  • Tracks visual changes on a page.

  • Ideal for layout monitoring or when text extraction isn't possible.

  • Requires setting sensitivity level.

Text with input parameters

  • Monitors search results or filtered content.

  • Each monitor can use different search terms.

  • Great for tracking multiple queries without creating separate robots.

What happens when changes are detected?

When your monitor detects changes:

  1. Change highlighting:

    • 🟢 Green = New content added

    • 🟡 Yellow = Existing content modified

    • 🔴 Red = Content removed

  2. Notifications sent (if enabled) showing exactly what changed.

  3. Data saved to your Browse AI account for historical tracking.

  4. Integrations triggered (if configured) to send data to other tools.

Troubleshooting common issues

"I can't add a monitor to my robot"

  • Ensure your robot is approved (check for the green checkmark)

  • Verify you have available credits

  • Try refreshing the page

"I'm not receiving notifications"

  • Check your spam folder

  • Verify your email in account settings

  • Ensure notifications are enabled for the monitor

"My monitor isn't detecting obvious changes"

  • Review what data your robot is capturing

  • Check if the website structure changed

  • Consider adjusting monitoring frequency
