When you use a virtual card to make a purchase via mobile payment, the app replaces your physical card number with a unique virtual card number. When you check out, the virtual number hides your personal payment details and helps to protect you against fraud. You can use your virtual card for online or in-app purchases.
Paying with SAMSUNG PAY
Samsung Pay uses the last 4 digits of your card number so no virtual card number is required.
Paying with APPLE PAY
Apple Pay uses a system where your actual credit or debit card number is not stored on your device. Instead, a unique Device Account Number (DAN) is assigned to your card, and this is used for transactions. This number is different from your real card number for security purposes.
The DAN is used to represent your card in Apple Pay transactions. The DAN is not your card number and cannot be used to make unauthorised purchases. The same card added to another iPhone will generate a “different” DAN and hence the name “device” account number.
Steps to View the Last Four Digits of the Device Account Number (DAN):
Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
Select the card you want to check.
Tap the three dots (More button) in the top right corner of the screen.
Scroll down and look for Card Information or Device Account Number. You’ll typically see only the last four digits of the DAN here.
Paying with GOOGLE PAY
Google Pay uses tokenization to protect your actual card number during transactions, meaning your real card number is replaced by a unique virtual number (VN) for each transaction. Google pay will provide you the last 4 digits of the VN.
How to Find the Google Pay Digital Card Number (VN):
While you can’t view the full digital card number directly in Google Pay, you can see certain details about your payment methods.
Steps to View Your Payment Details:
Launch the Google app on your phone.
Tap on the Profile icon or Menu at the top of the screen.
Select Payment Methods or Payment Cards.
Tap on the specific card (credit/debit) that you want to check.
You will see the card information and the last 4 digits of the virtual card number (tokenised card number).
