Curious what that little lock icon next to a space means, or how to set up a private space the team can't see? You're in the right place

If you're using channels within your bubbles team, you may have noticed a lock icon next to some of their names in your sidebar. This lock icon designates a channel as private.

Private channels are only visible to the individual who created them, and guests or teammates they invite specifically. Other teammates cannot see the channel in their sidebar. In order for other teammates to access a private channel, they must be invited via email.

To toggle a channel you've created from public to private or vice versa, enter the channel and click the blue Share button in the upper right corner. Next, find the list item that controls team access and use the dropdown to set it to Can access or No access:

By default, a newly created channel will be public, and therefore eligible to be viewed or joined by other teammates. Teammates will be able to see bubbles within private channels even if they don't join the channel.

Once a channel is designated as "No access" for teammates, you'll notice a lock icon next to its name in the left sidebar.

We hope this brief explanation clears up any confusion regarding public and private channels. If you need additional assistance with this feature or any other part of our platform, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team. We're always happy to help.
