BugHerd and Slack integration

Written by Richy Vong
Updated this week

BugHerd's Slack integration will send a variety of bug updates usually emailed to team members directly to a Slack channel, making it easier for everyone on your Slack team to keep up to date with submitted bug tasks.

How it works

Once you've set up the integration, Slack will automatically post to the designated Slack channel when the following actions occur.

  • A user gives some feedback on your site (e.g. a new task is created in BugHerd)

  • Someone comments on a task

  • A task status changes

Connecting Slack

From your Project, click "integrations" in the left navigation menu, then find Slack in the list and click "Connect".

You'll then be asked to confirm this addition, and give permissions to BugHerd to send messages to your Slack workspace.

Finally, choose the Slack channel you'd like to send updates to.

Notification options

The BugHerd Slack integration allows you to receive notifications in Slack when important events occur. The following details what notifications are available to enable for your project.

New task notifications

As the name suggests, new task notifications can be sent to your Slack channel when a new Task is created in BugHerd. The task will automatically unfurl with relevant information (see below) & screenshot as well as a link to the task both on your website & in BugHerd.

New comment notifications

When a comment is made on a task, a comment notification will be added to the original task notification in slack. New comments appear in the thread of the original task notification.

Status change notifications

When enabled, this will post a status change notification to the Slack channel, notifying you about the status the task was changed to with a link to the task & the project it relates to.

As always, if you have any problems with our slack integration, or would like to request improvements, please get in touch with our support team through the in-app help chat.
