Steps
1. Export your estimate in BuilderBid
Once you’re done estimating the job, click “Export” at the bottom right of your screen.
2. Enable the correct export settings
Make sure “Hide if Total = $0” is toggled ON.
Then select “BuilderTrend” as the export format.
This file is formatted specifically for BuilderTrend. No changes are usually required unless you want to make manual adjustments.
3. Import the file into BuilderTrend
Go to your project in BuilderTrend.
Under Financial, click Estimate.
Select Import from Excel, then upload the file you exported from BuilderBid.
4. Review how your estimate maps into BuilderTrend
BuilderTrend will show you a preview of how your data will be mapped.
For most users, you can simply click Next through this screen.
5. Verify your cost codes
One page you may need to double-check is the Cost Codes section.
As long as your Cost Codes in BuilderBid match the codes in your BuilderTrend account, you can safely click Next.
6. Complete the import
Once finished, you’ll see the same structure—sections, groups, and line items—mirrored exactly as they were in your BuilderBid estimate.
7. Switch to the Proposal Worksheet view
Before continuing, make sure you are on the Proposal Worksheet view inside BuilderTrend. This is required for sending your estimate to the budget.
8. Send your estimate to the Job Costing Budget
Click “Send to Budget” at the top.
9. Review your Job Costing Budget
Go to Financial → Job Costing Budget.
Here, you’ll see every line item from your estimate properly organized under their Cost Categories / Groups, ready for use in your project financials.
