Steps to Manage and Update Templates

1. Update Your Template from a Project

  • In your project, make the changes you want to the template (e.g., Cost Item Names, Pre-configured Measurements, Unit Costs, Markups, Waste Factor, etc.).

  • Click the Gear icon on the right.

  • Select Update in Template, then click Confirm.

  • You can do this for both Standalone Line Items and Groups.

  • Changes will now reflect in all future projects that use this template.

2. Access and Manage Your Templates

  • Click Show Menu at the top left.

  • Navigate to Templates & Setup → Estimating + Cost Codes.

  • Go to the Estimating Templates tab to see all templates in your account.

3. Customize Your Templates

  1. In My Templates, click Edit on the template you want to modify.

  2. Make the necessary changes, such as:

    • Unit Costs

    • Cost Item Names

    • Markups

    • Adding Line Items

    • Pre-configured Measurements

  3. Click Save after making updates.

Your customized template is now ready to be applied to new projects.

4. Save Line Items or Groups to Your Cost Library

  • Make your changes as needed.

  • Click the Gear icon on the right. Select Update in Template.

  • Click Add Group/Item to My Library.

  • Enter a name and select a folder to save it in (you can create new folders if needed).

This allows you to reuse these items or groups in other templates or projects.

5. Manage Your Cost Assemblies

  1. Go to the Cost Library tab.

  2. From here, you can:

    • Manage existing cost assemblies

    • Create new folders

    • Add new items from scratch

6. Use BuilderBid Templates

  • If you don’t have an existing template, scroll to BuilderBid Templates.

  • Click Select under the template you need.

  • When the template opens, click Save at the top.

  • Enter a Template Name and Description, then click Confirm.

The template will now appear under My Templates, ready to use in any project.
