BuilderBid integrates with LiDAR-capable devices to quickly capture accurate property scans. These scans generate floor plans, photos, and measurements that can be used directly for estimating. This guide will walk you through inviting a user to scan, managing scans, and importing the captured data into BuilderBid for takeoffs.

Steps to Use Property Scans
1. Invite a Device to Scan
Go to the Project Home tab.
Click Invite to Scan Property.
A list of LiDAR-capable devices is listed below.
Click Invite to Scan a Property.
Your contact information (phone & email) will auto-populate—verify it’s correct.
Click Invite.
The invitee will receive both an SMS and email notification.
If they don’t have the app, they’ll be prompted to download it. No account is required to scan.
2. Track Sent Invitations
Click the Sent Invitations tab to see all initiated scans.
Important Notes:
Send one invite per level of the home (e.g., Basement, Main Level).
Maximum scan area is 2,000 SF. For larger properties, create multiple scans; BuilderBid will combine them later.
3. Best Practices for Scanning
Turn on lights and open blinds for better visibility.
Define the scan boundaries clearly.
Take your time and follow on-screen guidance.
Always prioritize safety while scanning.
Begin scanning.
After the scan, a floor plan will appear. If walls or openings are missing, redo the scan.
4. Save and View Scans
Save your scan to send it to your BuilderBid account.
In your project, click View Property Scan → View Scans.
You will see:
Files with all parameters captured
A view of photos and scanned spaces
Download any files in PDF format if needed.
5. Start Estimating
Go to the Estimating tab.
Click Import Rendr PDF, or use Configure → Import.
Select the files you want to import.
Import your template, set up your screen, scale your plans, and start your takeoffs.
6. Use Captured Quantities or Manual Takeoffs
To use quantities captured by Rendr:
Zero out the quantity in your template.
Click the tape measure.
Select Link Rendr Parameter.
Choose the parameter/quantity to use and click Confirm.
