BuilderBid allows you to export your estimate or budget into Excel so you can review it, share it with your team, or use it in downstream workflows. You can export either the full detailed estimate or a more summarized budget view. This guide walks you through both options.

Steps

1. Export your detailed estimate

  • From the Estimate tab, click “Export.”

2. Choose the Excel export option

  • Select “Excel.”

3. Review the exported file

Your downloaded Excel file will mirror what you see in your estimate spreadsheet, including columns such as:

  • Cost Item Name

  • Notes / Cost Codes

  • Quantity

  • Unit Cost

  • Total

This gives you a working Excel version of your complete estimate.

Notes on re-importing:

  • If you plan to re-import the Excel file into your project later, be aware that some data may not transfer back perfectly.

  • Items with pre-configured measurements, markups, or linked calculations may not retain their original settings.

  • This export is primarily meant for reviewing, editing, or sharing your budget externally.

Exporting a Summary-Level Budget

If you prefer a higher-level budget export instead of the full detailed estimate, follow these steps:

1. Open the Markup tab

  • Go to the Markup tab and click “Configure the View.”

2. Select a summary view

Open the dropdown and choose the summary format you want:

  • Section Totals

  • Cost Code Totals

  • Cost Code Group Totals

These options give you a clean, aggregated view of your budget.

3. Export the summary to Excel

  • Once your preferred view is selected:

  • Click “Export” → “Excel.”

This will download the summary-level budget based on the view you configured.
