Watch time: 5 minutes
BuilderBid automatically organizes your measurements and gives you several tools to manage, adjust, and link measurements to line items in your estimate.
This guide explains how measurement folders work, how to show or hide measurements, how to edit measurement properties (such as color, height, pitch, or unit of measure), and how to re-link or adjust quantities when needed.

Steps
1. How Measurement Folders Work
When you create a new measurement, BuilderBid automatically organizes it into a folder on the right side of your screen.
You can rename a folder by clicking its name
You can reorder folders by dragging them
You can collapse/expand all folders or individual folders
You can show/hide all measurements, a folder, or an individual measurement
This gives you full control over the visibility of your plan measurements.
2. Show or Hide Measurements
You can toggle visibility at three levels:
Overall (all measurements)
Folder level (e.g., all doors, all windows)
Individual measurement
This is helpful when you want to isolate a single trade—for example, showing only door/window openings or only wall measurements.
3. Open the Measurement Properties Panel
Click any measurement box on the right side to open its Measurement Properties.
From this panel, you can:
Change the color of the measurement
Adjust height, width, or pitch
Apply an adjust quantity multiplier
Change the unit of measure
4. View or Jump to Linked Measurements
Each line item can be linked to one or more measurements.
Right-click the measurement icon on the line item to see what measurements are linked
Click any measurement in the list to jump directly to its plan sheet
If a measurement becomes unlinked by accident, simply click the link icon again to re-attach it.
5. Use the “Adjust Quantity”
The Adjust Quantity field lets you multiply the measured area or length without redrawing anything.
Examples:
2-sided walls: Enter
x2Double layer drywall: Enter
x2Any material requiring a multiplier: Use
x1.5,/3, etc.
This instantly recalculates the quantity feeding into your line item.
You can convert a measurement from one unit to another—for example:
From square feet → number of sheets
From linear feet → pieces
To convert:
Use the Adjust Quantity field to convert the value
(e.g., divide square footage by 48 for a 4×12 sheet).Update the unit of measure field (e.g., change to "sheet").
Update the unit cost in your spreadsheet so pricing matches the new unit.
