Connecting BambooHR® to Built

Initiate your integration and import data from BambooHR.

For customers new to our BambooHR integration.


Getting Started

If you do not already have a Built account, please connect with our team to set one up before initiating your BambooHR integration.

Implementation

Before enabling your integration and completing your initial import from BambooHR, we recommend scheduling a call with our Customer Success Team to configure your integration based on your import preferences. Our team will then ensure your understanding of Built's functionality and assist you with configuring your company settings.

If you already have a Built account containing data, please contact our Customer Success Team before importing any additional data from BambooHR.

Enabling the BambooHR Integration in Built

Only Company Admins and HR Admins can enable integrations. Learn more about managing user roles and permissions.

  1. Click your company name at the top of the main navigation, then click Company Settings.

  2. Click the Integrations tab.

  3. Click BambooHR in the list of integrations.

  4. Enter the subdomain for your BambooHR account.

  5. Click the Connect button.

  6. Ensure you’re logged into BambooHR, then complete the authorization step. After connecting to BambooHR, daily automatic imports will be enabled. You may also initiate a manual import from BambooHR at any time.

Importing BambooHR Data Automatically and Manually

We recommend configuring how Built handles positions for imported terminations and new hires to determine if positions are automatically deleted or created.

To enable automatic imports in Built:

  1. Click your company name at the top of the main navigation, then click Company Settings.

  2. Click the Imports tab.

  3. In the BambooHR Import Settings section, click the Edit button.

  4. To enable automatic imports, select Yes.

  5. Select your desired import frequency.

  6. Enter an email address where the system will send notification emails each time the automated import process completes.

  7. Click Save. Your first automated import will occur as specified in your import frequency.

To initiate a manual import in Built:

Only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can import data.

  1. From Built's main menu, navigate to the Org Chart page.

    You can also import people or positions from the People page.

  2. Click the import/export icon in the upper-right corner of the page, then click Records from BambooHR. The system will confirm when your import is complete, displaying your import summary.
    During the import, the system may prompt you to match new records from BambooHR to existing records in Built and/or correct any errors.

Notes about managing your BambooHR integration and import settings:

  • If you'd like to disable automatic imports, click your company name at the top of the main navigation and then navigate to Company Settings > Imports. (If the Imports tab is not initially visible, locate it by clicking More.) Locate the BambooHR Import Settings section and click the Edit button. Click the Enable Automatic Imports dropdown to select No, and then click Save.

  • To deactivate your BambooHR integration, navigate to Company Settings > Integrations, click BambooHR in the list of integrations, and then click Disconnect. Data from BambooHR can no longer be imported automatically or manually; however, all previously imported data will remain in your Built account.
