How to Create a Team Stick To It Challenge and Set a Goal

Learn how to create a Team Stick to It challenge and set a realistic team goal

What is a Team Stick To It challenge?

The Team Stick To It mode is a consistency-based challenge where participants aim to meet or exceed a daily activity goal across a defined challenge timeframe. This mode focuses on building daily habits, allowing you to set a specific daily steps goal for your participants to achieve.

Before we get started, here are a few important notes to keep in mind:

  • You must create your challenge and add your Team Stick To It mode to the challenge before you can create teams and begin inviting users to join.

  • In this mode, progress is measured using points instead of percentages. Team points will either remain the same or increase over the life of the challenge.

How Team Stick To It is scored

Scoring is broken down into two levels: Individual and Team.

Individual Scoring: Individuals earn credit based on how many days they meet the daily goal. Participants earn 1 point per day that their activity meets or exceeds the daily goal (Points = Goals Met). Rank is ordered by these points, with the highest points ranking first.

Team Scoring: Teams aggregate results across all members. To ensure the competition is fair across different team sizes, team scoring is normalized per member. The team's points value represents the maximum daily team performance achieved to date, calculated using this equation:

(Total goals met by all team members from challenge start) ÷ (Team Size) = Team Points

Note: In the event of a tie in team points, the Average Activity per Day is used as a tiebreaker to determine the final rank.

Example

Let's look at a team participating in a challenge with a Daily Goal of 5,000 steps. Over the first 5 days of the challenge, the team members have met their daily goals as follows:

  • Team Member 1 (Mickey): 3 goals met

  • Team Member 2 (Minnie): 3 goals met

  • Team Member 3 (Donald): 2 goals met

Total Team Goals Met = 8

Team Members = 3

8 total team goals met ÷ 3 team members = 2.67 Team Points

As participants move through the challenge, they will see their cumulative team points grow. Teams will be able to view their overall team rank compared to other teams participating in the consistency challenge.

How to configure a Team Stick To It goal

When configuring your Team Stick To It challenge, you’ll need to define three key parameters to set your group goal:

  • Daily Goal: The threshold participants need to reach each day to earn a point (e.g., 5,000 steps).

  • Duration of challenge (in days)

Be sure to set a realistic daily goal that encourages consistency without being overly difficult, giving every team member a fair chance to contribute points to their team!

In the Admin Center, go to the Reports tab in the side navigation menu. Run a Team Stick To It Report based on the date range of your most recent challenge.
