5.5 Materials

These preferences can be used to add the full list of materials required for the job in hand.

These preferences allow you to add the full list of materials required to complete the work in hand. This material list is used for quotations, invoices, purchase orders, work orders and assemblies. What's more, it's easy to organize according to your needs.

Then, you can export and re-import it to update material prices using an Excel file. Simply assign the following headings in order to your table columns.

Name*, Cost price*, Selling price*, Unit*, Category, Supplier, Code, Note, Surface, Length

Please note that columns marked with * are mandatory for all material rows.

(A) Import your list of materials by clicking on the arrow at top right, select the document to be imported, then click on Import.

(B) Create a new material by selecting the + at top right. Choose between a material or a composite material, opting for the most appropriate according to use.

(C) Apply the filters Category contains, Name contains and Supplier to carry out a more detailed search.

(A) Define the equipment name.

(B) Enter the product code linked to your supplier.

(C) Specify the category according to the supplier directory.

*To add a category, enter the category name in the category field...

or import a material with the name of this category, it will be added automatically.

To delete a category, simply make sure there are no materials assigned to it, and it will no longer be displayed.

(D) Identify the supplier to be used. To add a new supplier, please refer to the New supplier section.

(E) Indicate the number of materials currently in inventory.

(F) Choose the unit applicable to the composite material in question (unit, pack, roll, etc...).

(G) Specify the cost price as well as the selling price.

There's also a Notes section for adding relevant information and/or comments.

(H) Calculation variables allow you to specify the quantities for which materials will be used. These variables are useful for assemblies.

Composite materials

A composite material is made up of several materials and/or hourly rates. The classic example is to include the material and its installation time in the same composite material.

(A) Define the name of the composite material.

(B) Enter the product code related to your supplier.

(C) Specify the category according to the supplier's directory.

(D) Choose the unit applicable to the composite material in question (unit, pack, roll, etc...).

(E) Add notes if necessary.

(F) Specify the hourly rate and the material to be used by clicking on their respective buttons. An option named Composition Factor is to be filled in.

Note: Use the composition factor to convert the unit of the material or rate into that of the composite material. For example, if the composite unit is 1sq.ft. and a worker can install one of them per minute, then the composition factor will be 1/60 or 0.017.
