When you need to tap colleagues (program directors, counselors, faculty) to identify students, you may need some help explaining the request

SUBJECT: Student story videos - your help requested!

Hi [FIRST NAME],

Greetings from the [ADMISSIONS/MARKETING/ENROLLMENT] department!

You may already be aware that our school has partnered with a company called CampusReel to help us create and promote authentic student-generated video content.

Our goal is to create a robust video library showcasing a wide range of students; their experiences and perspectives on our campus community. Our success largely depends on our ability to recruit students to participate, which is where you come in.

Our team is asking that each [STAKEHOLDER, e.g. Program Director] nominates as many students as possible (5 is ideal) that you feel would be both willing and able to spend about an hour of their time recording themselves answering some prompts using their own device. CampusReel will shape these recordings into market-ready video content that our team can use to promote the great things happening at our school.

To do this, we have some simple pre-drafted email language below that you can use to invite your 5 (or more) nominees to participate. I’d ask that you cc me on the email thread, and I’ll be sure to follow up if students have questions.

We are excited to share these videos with prospective students, and we appreciate your help in getting this project underway.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Thanks,

SUBJECT: Special request to share your student story on video

Hi [FIRST NAME],

As you already know, one of the best things about [SCHOOL] is our student community. Students like you are what makes our institution unique and we believe your experience as a student is worth sharing.

You are one of a handful of students I have nominated to participate based on your great energy and contributions to our program.

The project itself doesn’t require more than about an hour of your time and some enthusiasm. The best news is, you don’t need any prior experience making videos - just a smartphone or the desire to tell others about what makes our campus a great place to learn.

To pull your footage together, our school has partnered with a company called CampusReel whose team will edit your clips and help shape your story.

To contribute, please sign up using this Sign Up Link.

[NOTE TO ADMINS: This is a generic link for any student on any campus - to find your school-specific link, navigate to the "creators" section of your admin panel and copy the link there.]

You’ll be asked to create a user account and go through a brief online training where you’ll get all the relevant details.

I really appreciate your willingness to help out with this initiative and I look forward to seeing your videos.

Thanks,
