Do I need an Intellectual Property (IP) strategy to receive Ontario Food Technology Pilot funding?

Yes. You must have an Intellectual Property (IP) strategy in place or under development to receive Ontario Food Technology Pilot funding.

If You Already Have an IP Strategy

You must demonstrate that your organization has an existing IP strategy.

If You Do Not Have an IP Strategy

You must:

  • Include IP-related costs in your project budget, or

  • Demonstrate engagement with an IP support organization

Examples include:

  • ElevateIP

  • Intellectual Property Ontario

  • An intellectual property law firm

IP Ownership Requirements

Successful applicants must agree to CFIN's Intellectual Property Policy.

Any intellectual property developed through the project must remain in Canada for at least five years.
