What is the NextGen Food Innovators Program?

The NextGen Food Innovators Program funds students to develop early-stage, IP-driven food innovation projects into potential ventures.

You can apply to support the development and validation of a new solution in:

  • Food processing

  • Food service

  • Grocery retail

Your project must:

  • Develop new knowledge, science, or processes (IP-driven)

  • Demonstrate commercial potential

  • Focus on pre-competitive innovation

Funding details:

  • Total project cost: $5,000 to $10,000

  • Maximum funding: up to $10,000 (100% of eligible costs)

  • Awards available: 5 (one per region in Canada)

  • Atlantic (Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador)

  • Quebec

  • Ontario

  • Prairies (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut)

  • West (British Columbia, Yukon)

You must apply through the CFIN Application Portal and be a CFIN member.
