What is a collaboration or consortia in the Food Innovation Challenge?

Written by CFIN Staff

A collaboration or consortia is a group of multiple independent organizations working together to develop an innovative solution.

Collaboration Requirements

Partners must:

  • Be unaffiliated organizations

  • Contribute to the project

  • Share responsibility for project outcomes

Cost Sharing

Partners typically:

  • Incur their own project costs

  • Contribute resources to the project

Intellectual Property

Partners may share existing intellectual property when necessary to achieve project objectives.

Service Providers vs. Partners

Partners cannot invoice each other for project work.

If one organization pays another for services, the relationship is considered a service provider relationship, not a collaboration.
