Who can do this: Owners and Admins. Members can't open Field management. · Product: Resume Builder · Where: Settings → Field management
Add your own field, like a portfolio link, notice period or bonus, in Field management. Then add it to your candidate appearance so it shows on the profile and in the edit form. A new field isn't added to any appearance on its own.
How do I create a custom field?
To create a custom field:
Click your name at the bottom left, then click Settings.
Under Candidate settings, click Field management, then click Add new field at the top right.
In Field title, enter the name recruiters and clients will see. Internal description is optional and shows under the title in the preview.
Select a Custom icon. Your clients see this icon next to the field. Click Next.
Select a Field type. It starts on Text Single Line. For a link, select URL.
Set Restricted field and Field visibility, then click Create. To go back to step 1, click back.
You see "Custom field successfully saved".
Add the field to your candidate appearance
In Settings, go to Candidate appearance and click Edit on the appearance you use.
On the Candidate profile tab, click the section where the field should go, then select the field in the list on the left.
Open the Candidate form tab and add the field there too. Click Save.
What happens next
The field shows in the edit form of every profile that uses this appearance. Fill it in when you edit a profile, then click Update profile. The field shows on the profile and on exports that use this appearance.
Good to know
Field types: Text Single Line, Long text, URL, Number, Date, Checkbox, Single Select, Multiple Select, File Upload, Rate.
You can't change a field's type after you create it. To use another type, create a new field.
The Candidate profile tab decides what shows on the resume. The Candidate form tab decides what recruiters can fill in. A field needs to be on both.
You decide the order. Drag sections and fields into place on each tab.
Restricted field has two options: "No, instantly visible" and "Yes, hide until CV/resume is visible".
Field visibility is Public (visible to your customers) or Internal (only displayed internally). Use Public for fields that belong on the resume.
Rate fields that are empty or 0 don't show on the PDF.
To change a field later, hover over its row in Field management and click Edit, or click the field title. The Edit custom field panel also has an Archive button.
Common questions
Can I add a LinkedIn or portfolio link to the resume?
Yes, you can add a link. Create a field with the type URL, add it to the appearance, then paste the link when you edit the profile.
Why does my new field sit at the end of the edit form?
The edit form has its own layout. Open the Candidate form tab of the appearance and drag the field into the right section.
Why isn't my new field on the resume?
It isn't on the Candidate profile tab yet, or it has no value. See A field is missing or wrong on the resume.
Pro tip: Decide the Field type before you click Create. You can't change it later, and switching means creating a new field and filling it in again.
