How to set up Microsoft Entra ID
Before you begin
Entra ID is only available on the Business plan in Canny. Just start a chat or email sales@canny.io to get a quote!
Owner-level admin permissions in Canny are required to connect the integration
You will also need to be an admin in Microsoft
Connecting the integration
To get started, go to your Microsoft Entra ID settings page and connect your Microsoft account.
Once the integration is connected, you’ll see toggles with three options:
Enforce Microsoft Entra ID login
This will disable Canny’s email/password login for admin access. Admins will be forced to be authenticated via Microsoft Entra ID to access the Canny admin view. This will also add an Entra ID option to Canny’s default login menu:
Revoke admin account
Offboarded users will automatically be removed from the Canny admin list and lose admin access to Canny.
Revoke private board access
Offboarded users will lose access to any private boards where they previously had access.
Next, visit the Boards tab in your Canny Settings to configure each of your custom access boards to grant teammates access via Microsoft Entra ID:
Note that anyone listed in the Admins page in your Canny settings will always have access to all boards. This setting is to authenticate non-admin users who are leaving feedback:
Once your custom access boards have been configured, users will need to log in with their Microsoft Entra ID account in order to gain access:
