If you notice that a patient marked as Non-Patient in Open Dental is receiving text (SMS) messages, follow the below troubleshooting steps:
Is the patient in Open Dental marked as Active?
If this person is a Non-Patient, but their file is still Active, Donna cannot distinguish the difference and will treat them as an Active patient.
- Go to their profile in CareCru 
- Click on Edit within Patient Info 
- On the Settings tab, turn off all notifications for them and click Save

Other Notes:
- The status options in Open Dental are: Active, Inactive, NonPatient, Deceased, or Archived. 
- Typically, people who are no longer patients are made "Inactive"; but there are some who are "NonPatients". Usually, those are the people who hold an insurance policy that an "Active" patient is part of.
