If you notice that a patient marked as Non-Patient in Open Dental is receiving text (SMS) messages, follow the below troubleshooting steps:
Is the patient in Open Dental marked as Active?
If this person is a Non-Patient, but their file is still Active, Donna cannot distinguish the difference and will treat them as an Active patient.
Go to their profile in CareCru
Click on Edit within Patient Info
On the Settings tab, turn off all notifications for them and click Save

The status options in Open Dental are: Active, Inactive, NonPatient, Deceased, or Archived.
Typically, people who are no longer patients are made "Inactive"; but there are some who are "NonPatients". Usually, those are the people who hold an insurance policy that an "Active" patient is part of.
