Abeldent - How to cancel appointments

When a patient cancels or misses their appointment is it recorded as cancelled in ABELDent and the appointment is removed from the Scheduler view.

Note: After you cancel an appointment from the Appointment Scheduler, ABELDent will automatically create a contact to remind you to rebook the appointment.

Workflow to Cancel an Appointment

  1. Open the Appointment Scheduler

  2. Select the appointment you wish to cancel and then do any of the following:
    - Press C on the keyboard > Right-click and choose Cancel Appointment.
    OR
    - Click the button on the toolbar > Click Scheduler on the toolbar and choose Appointment Functions > Cancel Appointment.

  3. The ‘Was Sufficient Notice Given’ dialogue box appears.

  4. If the patient:
    - Cancelled prior to the appointment to give you enough time to book someone else into the time slot, click the ‘Cancelled With Notice’ button. ABELDent will create a ‘Rebook with Contact’.
    - Cancelled without enough notice and if you were unable to schedule someone else into the time slot, click the ‘Cancelled Without Notice’ button. ABELDent will create a ‘Rebook W/O Contact’.
    - If the office cancelled the appointment because the provider was not available due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, click the ‘Cancelled by Office’ button.
    - If the patient did not show up for the appointment, click the ‘Missed Appointment’ button. ABELDent creates a MissedAppt contact.
