A pitch is an attempt to “sell” someone on an idea or solution.

By pitching, you indicate that you’re:

  • Different

  • Eager

  • Willing to do more than the bare minimum

Founders who do a good job pitching their startups get millions of dollars from venture capital investors. Job seekers are no different—those who do a good job pitching their ability to create value for companies are the ones winning all the opportunities.

How to Pitch

Of course, pitches can be in any format you like. That being said, we highly recommend including these two things:

  1. Why them?
What's awesome about this company? Why do you want to work here, specifically? Show them that you've done your research and that you'd be a great culture fit.

  2. Why you?
What skills do you bring to the table, and how do you see yourself create value in this role? Bonus points: tell them what you hope to accomplish in the first 30-90 days.

Not sure where to start? Use our outline builder to generate a simple script:

Keep it short (1-2min), speak clearly, and don't forget to smile! :)
