What is Zapier?

Zapier is an automation tool that makes it possible for you to connect the apps you already use. Zapier helps you move information between apps automatically and can be set up without any development skills.

More than 1500 apps are connected to Zapier today, for example Slack, Gmail, Mailchimp, Intercom, Zendesk, Dropbox etc. Explore all possibilities here.

How does it work?

When working with Zapier, you create what's called Zaps. A Zap holds an automatic workflow, which is a serial of automatic events. All Zaps needs to start with a trigger. A trigger is when a specific event happens in one of your apps that starts the workflow which leads to an action in another app.

When a trigger happens, the action follows automatically. This is called a workflow.

What can you do with Zapier?

When working with Zapier you can pretty much set up whatever workflow you like.
But to make things a bit more clear, we've created a example down below.

Here's a basic example:

I want to be notified in Slack when a user in Cirrus creates a new opportunity.

Step 1.

Select which app you want to trigger the workflow and then select what the trigger should be.

In this example we chose Cirrus Sales CRM (App) and New Opportunity (Trigger).

Step 2.

Next, we need to select what app I want the trigger to send an action to.

In this example we selected Slack (App) and Send Direct Message (Action). We can then add who the message will be sent to, what the message should say etc.

Step 3.

Lastly, you can test your new zap.

If everything is correct, a test message should now be sent in Slack.

Success! 👍

If you want to make your Zap more specific, you can set up some conditions in your Zap by using filters.

For example:

When a "New opportunity is created" (Trigger) with "Status won" (Filter) --> Send Direct Message (Action) in Slack (App) and "Send an email to the sales manager" (Action).

Learn more about using filters in Zapier here.
