Handicap betting is when a + or – sign is applied to each outcome. This handicap is often called the 'line'. On a 'line' of 1.75, a team will have 1.75 points added to their score, a team will have 1.75 points subtracted from their score. The handicap winning team 'covers' the spread based on the line and final score.
For example, if team A and B are playing a football game and the line for team A is +1.75 which means they are the underdog, if they lose by 1 or less you are going to win the bet. Final result of Team A is 1 and Team B is 2. If you bet on team A then you will win your bet.
