Donation Receipts are emails sent to your donors after they have donated. It serves to confirm that their donation has been made and allows you to thank them personally for their contribution.

We allow you to customize your donation receipt with the use of merge tags. Here are a few examples of what those are and how they work:

  • {{first_name}} - inserts the donor first name
  • {{last_name}} - inserts the donor last name
  • {{transaction_info}} - inserts transaction information about the donation

If you need some assistance or ideas on what to write, here are two examples of donation receipts that you can use for your fundraising site:

i. Tax Deductible Donation Receipt (For US-based charities)

Hi {{full_name}},

Thank you for your donation. This letter serves as your receipt for tax purposes and certifies that you have made this donation as a charitable contribution.

Here’s our tax information:
 Organization Name: End Poverty
 7900 Woodmont Avenue
 Bethesda, MD 20814
 Telephone: 555-396-1146
 EIN: 10-1371549

Here’s your donation info:

Amount: $250
 Date: 3/1/2014

ii. Non-Tax Deductible Donation Receipt

Hi {{first_name}},

Thank you for your contribution to ORG NAME. This letter serves as your transaction receipt.

Here is your contribution info:

Amount: $250
 Transaction ID: 423493248029340

This transaction should appear on your credit card statement as “ORG NAME”. This contribution is not tax deductible.

Again, thank you for your generous contribution!


We already have a template built in, but feel free to alter it and make the donation receipt your own!

To set up your customized donation receipt, follow the steps below:

Step 1: In your Fundraising, select your donation page, navigate to your Settings, and click on “Donation Form” along the left menu bar.

Step 2: Scroll down the page the "Donation Receipt" section. Edit the content of the donation receipt. Insert any merge tags as applicable. You're also able to cc or bcc yourself (or another team member) on the donation receipts.

Step 3: Optional: Send a test email to your admin account by clicking on the link.

Step 4: Click on Save on the bottom of the page.
